Lithuania adopts new packaging and packaging waste requirements

Lithuania implemented the requirements of the European Parliament and Council Directive 94/62/EC on Packaging and Packaging Waste.

Packaging of goods targeted to Lithuanian market must be identified by a numbering system and/or abbreviation. Labelling of materials must be on the package itself or on its label, must be clearly visible, easily legible, durable and not damaged even after opening the package, when necessary labelling should be placed on a secondary packaging. The obligation to ensure compliance with these and other requirements of the legislation rests with manufacturer and importer of goods.
